The Works Of John Whitgift

John Whitgift was the Archbishop of Canterbury from 1583 to 1604. His theological views were controversial and he treated Puritans intolerantly. The archbishop before him was placed under house arrest for disagreeing with the Queen. Whitgift sided with the Queen in her hatred of the Puritans and upon the death of the Archbishop; Whitgift was named the new Archbishop.
