Rhode Island Apple Growers

A.E. Stene, in his 1910 edition of Rhode Island Apple Growers: Some Suggestions on Apple Growing in Rhode Island describes how "during the last few years there has been an awakening of interest in the growing of apples" nationwide. Various Rhode Island statistics from 1905 reveal that close to 251,000 bushels of apples were being commercially harvested across the state, with 'Baldwin', and 'Greening' being the most popular varieties.
