Nomenclature of the Apple

Using the "Code of American Pomological Society", each apple appears alphabetically in list format with notes on its origin, form, size, color, texture, flavor, quality, use, and season, along with additional remarks when necessary. There are 352 pages with approximately 20 distinct names per page, beginning with 'Adam's Russet' (syn. Sykehouse) and ending with 'Young America'. This represents well over 7,000 apple names-quite a feat given the 7,500 plus cultivars known to exist today.
