John Yates Beall was a Confederate soldier in the American Civil War. After being wounded in battle he became a privateer for the south. After a failed raid on Lake Erie to rescue Confederate prisoners, he was captured tried and executed. This book is an account of life. It includes his personal correspondences, his diary chronicling the Lake Erie raid, and an account of his trial.
