By: Stan Sherer and Marjorie Senechal
Artworks, visitors, and museum guards, interacting and carrying on silent conversations: exploring museums with his camera has been one of Stan Sherer’s pleasures as long as he has been photographing. This book contains 31 of his photographs taken in museums and galleries in various countries around the world.
Inspired by a performance of Modeste Mussorsgky’s "Pictures
at an Exhibition" by pianist Vladimir Feltsman, Sherer’s wife, Marjorie Senechal, wrote the accompanying text. She delves into Mussorgsky’s psyche, explores the relation between solo
piano and black and white photography, and imagines traveling
back in time with the composer.
These images and the text explore the museum and concert experience together.
