Catullus

Gaius Valerius Catullus was a Roman poet in the first century B.C. He was popular with his contemporaries and had an influence on such classical poets as Ovid and Virgil. Considered avant-garde in his time, his work departed from the grand epic poetry of Homer to small personal themes. In particular he wrote about his love of the woman Lesbia.
