A Holliston Oath to Support and Defend
A Holliston Oath to Support and Defend
By: Bobby Blair
A Holliston Oath to Support and Defend is Bobby Blair’s second tribute to military veterans from the small Massachusetts town of Holliston, thirty miles southwest of Boston. Continuing in the tradition of his first book a Holliston Call to Duty, this volume introduces us to more men and women who were called in times of peace and war to the nation’s defense. With sixty photographs and accompanying text, the book pays tribute to the service of the town’s residents. Beginning with the Civil War, it continues to global overseas wars like World War I and World War II, to the mid-twentieth century conflicts in Korea and Vietnam, and the twenty-first century wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The World War II section of the book is further enriched with excerpts from a local newsletter published in 1944-45 that provides deep insights into the lives and experiences of service members in that era.
A Holliston Oath to Support and Defend offers a compelling portrait of veterans who came from all walks of life to serve their country, some of whom paid the ultimate sacrifice and never returned.
